J&j Oyster Bar Information

Stepping into J&j Oyster Bar on University Dr in Fort Worth immediately gives off that laid-back, neighborhood seafood vibe that keeps locals coming back. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and lively, with a cozy interior that’s great for grabbing a bite solo or gathering with friends. The menu leans heavily into fresh Gulf Coast flavors, and the oysters are naturally the star. Served chilled on a bed of ice, each shell bursts with briny freshness, and the house-made sauces give them an extra kick without overpowering the natural taste. Beyond oysters, the shrimp and crab options are equally enticing-plump, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, whether fried, grilled, or tossed in a buttery garlic sauce. The po’boys and poached seafood plates offer hearty portions that pair well with their crisp, refreshing cocktails or local draft beers, making for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Service here feels personal; staff members are attentive and happy to offer recommendations, which makes navigating the menu a breeze even for first-timers. The location itself is convenient, tucked along a busy stretch yet with enough parking to avoid the usual downtown hassle. Reviews frequently praise the consistency of both the food and the experience, highlighting that whether it’s a quick oyster run or a full seafood feast, J&j Oyster Bar delivers every time. What People's Say About Place

Such a cool spot! Been coming here for years and it’s always been consistently delicious! Melanie & Dallas are always great when we stop in for lunch! Enjoy the service and the food especially during crawfish season! Even during the off seasons, the food and environment is awesome

had a great experience at this restaurant from start to finish. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right without being overbearing. Our food arrived promptly and was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Was nice bumping into another Curry !

We enjoyed our first visit here tonight. It was a bit crowded due to small space but a table cleared up as soon as we arrived and we were immediately seated and helped. Drinks came fast, food came fast. Food was fresh and hot. We had fried shrimp and catfish baskets, and lemon butter chargrilled oysters. We had zero complaints and will come back again. We did come with a toddler, and while the environment is more dive-bar-ish, it wasn’t non-family friendly.

I love everything about JJ’s. We had the JJ’s Fried Party Feast, & grilled Mahi. The whole meal was amazing! I have to give a shout out to Dallas & Melanie. (I hope they don’t mind me including their names.) We never had to ask for anything. They were on top of our meal from start to finish. Everyone in the restaurant was so friendly & helpful! Some of the best customer service I have ever experienced! I will be back very soon. Thank you for a great experience! Dallas & Melanie, thank you very much for your attention to detail! It was greatly appreciated! Happy New Year! Keep up the great work!

I have been coming to this location for over 10 years! One of my favorite lil seafood joints. Dallas has been one of my favorite servers. He always keeps us laughing and the service is amazing! Can’t wait for crawfish season

This was our first visit, it was my Birthday dinner and Didn't disappoint! My husband and I hade fried shrimp and fried oysters they were delicious, the hushpuppies & fries were great. Oysters Rockefeller excellent! I will definitely be revisiting this Oyster Bar.

J&J Oyster Bar is a great-vibe restaurant! A good seafood expedition in the great city of Fort Worth!

I haven't been here in about 15 years. My wife had never been here so she wanted to try it out. It's a small place inside, old Taco Bell. We sat outside since it was a nice day. Our server was Brandy. She was nice and attentive. I ordered half dozen raw oysters and wife ordered fried mushrooms for starters. The mushrooms were real good. The oysters were ok. Oysters are sometimes hit or miss, today, they were on the "miss' side but still enjoyable after dressing them. I ordered fried catfish and shrimp and wife ordered grilled catfish with grilled veggies and a mango habanero sauce. She also asked to sub the rice for fries. Brandy said they misread the order and gave her rice but they still brought us fries shortly after. Wife really enjoyed the fish and the veggies. She took a taste of the rice (since they brought it anyway) and she said it tasted like boxed rice. I enjoyed my fried fish and the batter it's in. Fried shrimp were large and delish. All in all it was a good visit, my wife said she would come back... And we probably will. Thanks Brandy.
